Arsene Wenger’s Man City 2011 warning resurfaces amid fresh Infantino allegations
Football Leaks founder Rui Pinto has revived allegations surrounding Gianni Infantino’s handling of an earlier investigation involving Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. According to NowArsenal, Pinto claimed Infantino, then UEFA general secretary, helped ensure both clubs received fines rather than facing deeper investigations.
Infantino previously defended his role, saying discussions and document exchanges were part of his responsibilities. The renewed claims have also brought back Arsène Wenger’s criticism of City’s sponsorship arrangements.
In 2011, the former Arsenal manager questioned the credibility of Financial Fair Play and argued sponsorship deals should reflect market value. City rejected Wenger’s comments at the time. The Premier League’s latest investigation subsequently found City guilty of serious financial-rule breaches.
