Desire Doué fires PSG past Aston Villa to retain UEFA Super Cup
Paris Saint-Germain retained the UEFA Super Cup after beating Aston Villa 2-1 at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Wednesday. According to the BBC, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring for the Champions League holders in the 20th minute before Aston Villa teenager Brian Madjo equalised shortly before half-time.
Desire Doué restored PSG’s lead in the 62nd minute after a VAR check confirmed the goal. Madjo, 17, became the youngest scorer in Super Cup history on his competitive debut. Villa, Europa League winners, pushed for another equaliser but PSG held on to claim the trophy for a second successive year.
