Five infections you can still catch despite correct use of condom
Condoms significantly reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy, but do not provide complete protection against every STI — particularly infections spread through skin-to-skin contact in areas a condom cannot cover, Tribune Online reports.
Five infections that can still be contracted despite correct condom use include Human Papillomavirus (HPV), the world’s most common STI; genital herpes, which spreads even without visible sores; syphilis, which can begin outside the condom’s coverage area; mpox, which spreads through prolonged skin contact; and molluscum contagiosum, a viral skin infection causing raised bumps in uncovered genital areas.
Health experts recommend condoms alongside vaccination, regular testing and open communication with partners.
