DSS probes NFF over N17bn Federal Government intervention fund

The Department of State Services (DSS) has joined other security operatives investigating the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the utilisation of a ₦17bn Federal Government intervention fund, according to a Vanguard report.

The fund, approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024, was meant to clear outstanding wages and bonuses owed to national teams. A source said the DSS was reviewing documents on the fund’s disbursement. The probe comes amid public concern over Nigerian football’s decline, including the Super Eagles’ World Cup misses and the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
