EFCC offers whistleblowers 5% reward for exposing stolen Nigerian assets abroad

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has invited whistleblowers to report stolen Nigerian assets hidden abroad, offering rewards of between 2.5% and 5% of recovered value, according to Nairametrics.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede announced the incentive on Wednesday while speaking at the 43rd Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime in the UK, saying credible tips could make informants “multi-millionaires.”

He said the commission has forfeited over $500 million in cash and assets to the Nigerian government since he took office nearly three years ago, citing recent recoveries linked to former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele and ex-Attorney-General Abubakar Malami.
