Sudan recorded Africa’s highest inflation rate in July 2026 at 41.61%, while Nigeria ranked third at 15.43%, according to Nairametrics, citing central bank and national statistics agency data. The top 10 highest-inflation African countries were:

3. Nigeria – 15.43%
4. Ethiopia – 15.30%
5. Sierra Leone – 14.77%
6. Rwanda – 14.50%
7. Egypt – 13.00%
8. Libya – 12.70%
9. Sao Tome and Principe – 9.70%
10. Botswana – 9.40%

Nigeria’s headline inflation eased 0.48 percentage points from June, though food inflation rose to 20.31% year-on-year, driven by higher prices for rice, tomatoes, onions and other staples.
