FG releases application guide for 2027/2028 UK Commonwealth Scholarship
The Federal Ministry of Education has invited qualified Nigerian graduates to apply for the 2027/2028 Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan, according to a notice reported by PUNCH. Applications close on October 20, 2026.
The scholarships, tenable in the United Kingdom, cover a one-year taught Master’s programme or doctoral studies lasting up to three years. Master’s applicants must hold a first degree with at least a Second Class Upper Division, while doctoral applicants need a relevant Master’s degree plus a Second Class Lower Division at first degree level. Both categories require admission into at least two UK institutions, and doctoral applicants must submit a supporting statement from a prospective supervisor. Selection is based on academic merit, development impact and study plan quality.
To apply, candidates must register on the Electronic Application System portal and complete the form online. They are required to upload scanned passport photographs, academic transcripts, birth certificates and UK admission letters. After submission, applicants must generate a PDF of the completed form, print a copy and bring it to the interview venue. Foreign certificates require official translation and evaluation.
