Fresh evidence emerges of Fauci deleting records despite sworn denials
New documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show Anthony Fauci instructed an aide to permanently delete an email exchange about criticism of risky viral research, adding to evidence he destroyed public records despite sworn testimony that he never did, according to a Daily Caller report.
The 2012 emails followed controversy over NIH-funded gain-of-function research by Dutch virologist Ron Fouchier, who created an airborne bird flu strain with an estimated 50% fatality rate. After a New York Times op-ed questioned the NIH’s handling of the research, Fauci wrote, “Please delete this e-mail and then delete from the deleted file.”
Fauci ultimately persuaded NIH biosecurity advisers to allow the experiment’s details to be published in full. He did not respond to a request for comment.
