IPOB threatens to boycott 2027 polls over delay in Kanu’s case

The Indigenous People of Biafra has issued a 14-day ultimatum demanding the Federal Government list and hear detained leader Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal, threatening a boycott of the 2027 general election across the South-East, according to a Punch Newspapers report.

IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful said Kanu had petitioned the Chief Justice and Court of Appeal President over the delay. The group accused the FG of avoiding court after securing his conviction, questioned the legal basis for his detention, and argued a mass boycott would signal Nigerians’ withdrawal of consent from a system they distrust.
