Judge lifts stay, clears path to end TPS for Ethiopians

A federal judge in Boston has cleared the way for the Trump administration to terminate temporary protected status (TPS) for Ethiopian nationals.

According to ABC News, U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy on Tuesday lifted the administrative stay blocking the termination, following similar rulings affecting TPS holders from Haiti, Somalia, Syria and Myanmar. The advocacy group African Communities Together, which sued in January, argued Ethiopia remains in humanitarian crisis.

The Department of Homeland Security said on X that those with terminated TPS should leave the U.S. “NOW” or face deportation.
