Kushner warns Hamas: Disarm in 60 to 90 days or Israel gets US backing to ‘finish the job’
US special envoy Jared Kushner has put Hamas on a hard clock. Speaking exclusively to Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst after high-stakes diplomatic meetings in Egypt and Israel, Kushner warned that Hamas must honour its commitments to disarm in Gaza or face an Israeli military operation to “finish the job,” according to Fox News.
Kushner outlined a clear timeline, saying Washington hoped to see progress in as little as 30 days on weapons handover, with full disarmament and tunnel-filling completed within 60 to 90 days. Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to Trump’s 20-point peace plan and a 15-point roadmap developed over the past four months, including a pledge to surrender its weapons.
But Kushner made clear the patience of Washington is finite. “If Hamas does not follow through on its commitments, everyone will see that they’re not genuine about peace,” he said, adding that Israel would then have “a lot more support from the US and others to go and finish the job in the appropriate way.”
Kushner also warned that Gaza’s reconstruction would remain blocked until demilitarisation is complete. “We will not allow Gaza to be rebuilt until the demilitarisation occurs,” he said. “Nobody wants to put more money into a place that’s gone on for so long if it’s just going to be taken over by terrorists or blown up again.”
The disarmament process, as outlined by Kushner, would see Hamas hand weapons to the Palestinian technocratic government, which would transfer them to an International Stabilization Force for destruction. Netanyahu, however, last week rejected the peace plan and vowed there would be no military withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed — a rare public show of defiance against the Trump administration.
In a notable complication, Trump simultaneously told Fox News he wants Israel to stop its airstrikes in Gaza — creating visible tension between the president and his own envoy’s hardline posture on the ground.
