KWAM 1 breaks down in tears on stage after learning of Nollywood legend Ogogo’s death
Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde, KWAM 1, broke down in tears mid-performance on Sunday after receiving news of the death of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who died at 66 after battling stage-four cancer.
As reported by The Nation, video clips showed KWAM 1 visibly shaken and consoled by an associate on stage, while fellow Fuji musician Malaika was equally overcome. “His death really hit hard. I’m in pain,” Malaika said.
Ogogo’s daughters Kira and Lima Taiwo had made a public appeal for medical assistance for their father in the days before his passing. His death has drawn widespread tributes across Nigeria’s entertainment and political space, with many describing him as one of the most recognisable faces of Yoruba Nollywood.
