Lagos reiterates ban on dealer number plates for private, daily use

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its ban on the permanent or everyday use of dealer number plates by motorists and vehicle dealers, warning of enforcement action against violators.

Transport ministry spokeswoman, Bolanle Ogunlola, said the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018, restricts dealer plates to specific uses, including test drives, inspections and vehicle delivery, not private daily commuting. She disclosed that the Vehicle Inspection Service apprehended 175 vehicles for violations, with plates to be confiscated.
