Liverpool held to goalless draw by Fulham as £100m attack misfires
Liverpool were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, with their expensive attacking line unable to break down a determined visitors’ defence. According to RTÉ Sport, Liverpool started Bradley Barcola, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak together but struggled to create sustained pressure for much of the contest.
Fulham were arguably the more impressive side and came close to securing a first Premier League victory of the season, having frustrated Liverpool with their organisation and attacking intent. Isak headed narrowly wide late on as Liverpool pushed for a winner, but Fulham held firm to secure their first point of the campaign. The draw means Andoni Iraola remains unbeaten as Liverpool manager, although the result leaves him with plenty to address before his side’s next league fixture.
