Man charged with treason for ‘demolishing’ Tinubu billboard, lawyers react
According to Daily Trust, a Katsina resident, Aminu Sanda, popularly known as Nesta, has been remanded over alleged destruction of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign billboards and theft of N35 million from the APC secretariat. Sanda, who denies the allegations, was transferred to Abuja and charged with treasonable felony.
A Jiwa Magistrate Court on Tuesday reserved ruling on his bail application until September 15, after police sought another two weeks to complete investigations. Legal experts, including Hameed Ajibola Jimoh and Abdurrahman Salis, questioned the treasonable felony charge, saying billboard destruction does not ordinarily constitute treasonable felony under Nigerian law.
