Man Utd legend says Senne Lammens ‘isn’t good enough’ for United
Former Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen has questioned whether goalkeeper Senne Lammens is good enough to remain the club’s long-term No.1. Speaking to Tipman Tips, Meulensteen said United should consider signing another goalkeeper, arguing that Lammens does not match the standard previously set by legends such as Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van der Sar and David de Gea.
According to Daily Star, Meulensteen also highlighted the Belgian’s costly World Cup mistake against Spain and his recent struggles in United’s 2-2 draw with Everton. Meulensteen identified Athletic Club and Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon as the type of signing United need, while also calling for greater defensive consistency.
