Maryland rape suspect, an illegal immigrant, had prior NYC sex abuse arrest — DHS
Abdoulaye Dia, a Guinean national working as an Empower rideshare driver, has been charged with first-degree rape, kidnapping, second-degree assault and third-degree sex offense after a teenage girl accused him of assaulting her in Silver Spring, Maryland, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.
According to Fox News, Montgomery County police were called to a hospital on Tuesday, where the girl reported the rape. Investigators identified Dia through the rideshare app and arrested him on Wednesday.
A DHS spokesperson said Dia was arrested in New York City on June 10 for sexual abuse. Empower said its July 16 background checks on him showed no incidents.
