Nepal: Chinese worker, Nepali woman rescued alive 10 days after deadly flood

Rescuers in Nepal pulled a man and a woman alive in separate operations Saturday, 10 days after devastating floods hit the country, as teams continued searching for thousands of missing people, according to a report by NBC News.

The Chinese national was rescued from a 225-meter tunnel at the Trishuli hydropower project by Nepalese and South Korean teams. Separately, a woman was pulled from a damaged house in Nuwakot town and airlifted to Kathmandu.

At least 1,300 people were killed in the Aug. 26 floods, likely caused by a glacier collapse, with more than 5,000 still missing and roughly 900 workers unaccounted for at hydropower sites.
