New Twitter debuts, says Musk’s X relinquished the name

Operation Bluebird, a Virginia-based startup, has launched a new social media platform called Twitter.now, claiming Elon Musk’s X Corporation abandoned the “Twitter” name and trademarks, according to a report by Ars Technica.

Cofounder Stephen Coates said the move follows a tentative April 2026 ruling suggesting X gave up rights to “tweet” and the bird logo, though a written order is still pending.

The platform, distancing itself from X, currently has only hundreds of users and features an automated fact-checking tool called Vera. A trademark attorney called the launch a bold escalation, noting X is expected to respond forcefully.
