NFF in crisis: President, board members step down over N17bn probe

Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau, and other board members have resigned following sustained pressure over the poor management of Nigerian football, Vanguard reports.

The development comes as the Department of State Services and other security agencies investigate how a N17 billion Federal Government intervention fund, approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024 for players’ wages and bonuses, was utilised.

The resignations follow the Super Falcons’ historic failure to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Eight of the NFF’s 13 board members have reportedly quit, potentially stalling the September 27 elections scheduled for Lafia, Nasarawa.
