Nigeria climbs to eighth spot in Africa investment ranking, surpassing four nations
Nigeria has risen four places to eighth position in the latest African investment ranking, overtaking Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya and Namibia.
According to PUNCH, the 2026 Bloomberg Economics Investment Risk-O-Meter ranked Nigeria as the biggest climber among 19 African economies, attributing the improvement to economic reforms under President Bola Tinubu.
“Nigeria was the biggest climber in a ranking of Africa’s most investable markets, propelled by President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms,” Bloomberg reported.
The assessment showed Nigeria improved in three of five indicators — economic strength, fiscal strength and external vulnerability.
Mauritius emerged as Africa’s most investable market, while South Africa dropped one place from its previous top position.
Nigeria’s rise follows reforms including petrol subsidy removal, foreign exchange market changes and electricity tariff adjustments.
However, the improved ranking comes amid concerns over inflation, rising living costs and public debt, which increased from N87.38tn in June 2023 to N159.28tn by December 2025.
