Obi explains what he meant by ‘ready to die’ remark
Presidential candidate Peter Obi of the New Nigeria Development Congress has clarified his recent statement that he was ready to die for his votes, describing the comment as symbolic rather than a call to violence, according to Leadership Newspapers.
Speaking on Arise TV on Thursday, Obi said the remark was made in response to a supporter at a Port Harcourt gathering who said Nigerians were prepared to die to defend their votes. He said he was expressing solidarity, not inciting unrest, and that his priority remains ensuring votes are properly counted and transmitted.
Obi added that his campaign would monitor results from polling units, with a dual transmission system allowing simultaneous public visibility alongside submissions to INEC’s official portal, he said.
