OK Movement vows not to surrender structure to NDC ahead of 2027

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement (OK Movement) has vowed not to collapse or surrender its structure to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 election, according to The Punch.

The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, said on Wednesday that it would resist any attempt by the NDC or any other organisation to absorb its national, state, local government and ward structures, insisting the group is an independent political organisation, not a mere support group.

His comments followed remarks by NDC National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, who argued that support groups should complement rather than compete with political parties, describing the OK Movement’s decision to set up a presidential campaign council as “unheard of” and “nonsensical.”

The disagreement stems from the NDC’s dissociation from a 59-member campaign council the movement had constituted to mobilise support for presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, with NDC Chairman Moses Cleopas insisting the party never authorised it.
