Opposition summit pushes for 2015-style alliance to take on APC

Opposition parties have begun discussions on an electoral coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, with the G100 proposing a Government of National Competence anchored on a single four-year transition term, Business Hallmark reports.

At the summit in Abuja, G100 facilitator Salihu Lukman said the arrangement would be backed by an enforceable Transition Charter, warning that past political agreements failed due to lack of enforcement mechanisms. He cited the 2023 election, where opposition fragmentation cost them victory. The Minority Caucus’s Fred Agbedi urged unity, echoing the coalition that helped the APC win in 2015.
