Pochettino demands Tottenham be awarded 2016-17 Premier League title after Chelsea breaches
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has called for Spurs to be retrospectively awarded the 2016-17 Premier League title following Chelsea’s admission of financial rule breaches. According to GOAL, Chelsea were recently fined £10 million by the Football Association after admitting 74 breaches relating to payments to unregistered agents between 2011 and 2018.
Tottenham finished seven points behind Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side that season, despite recording the league’s best attack and defence. Pochettino argued that Tottenham did not compete under the same financial conditions and insisted Chelsea’s sporting punishment should have included the loss of the title. However, retrospective changes remain highly unlikely.
