Police detain 45-year-old man over alleged fake medical practice in Ibadan
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, for allegedly operating an unlicensed hospital and practising medicine without professional qualifications in Ibadan.
According to The Guardian, Benjamin was arrested on October 2, 2026, at Life Is Good Hospital in the Olodo area following intelligence received by police operatives.
Police spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade said officers discovered the suspect attending to patients and administering treatments, particularly fertility-related services.
During preliminary investigations, Benjamin allegedly admitted practising medicine for approximately seven years without certification or a licence.
Items recovered included two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, a stethoscope, assorted medicines and specimen bottles.
The police warned residents against seeking medical treatment from unqualified practitioners, urging them to verify healthcare providers’ credentials.
Authorities also encouraged the public to report suspicious medical facilities.
Investigations are continuing to determine the full extent of Benjamin’s activities and identify possible accomplices before prosecution.
