Reps minority caucus appeals Tinubu to stop killings in Northern Nigeria
The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has urged President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action to end the worsening killings, terrorism, banditry and mass abductions across Northern Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its leader, Fredrick Agbedi, and spokesman, Afam Ogene, the lawmakers told PUNCH Newspapers that recent attacks in Plateau, Niger, Sokoto, Kaduna and Katsina states had reached an intolerable level.
The caucus called for sustained, intelligence-led military operations to reclaim territories controlled by terrorists and criminal gangs.
It cited multiple deadly attacks, including killings in Plateau and Sokoto and the abduction of more than 60 worshippers in Niger State.
The lawmakers also urged Tinubu to visit affected communities, increase security funding and consider drawing $5bn from external reserves for an extraordinary national security intervention.
