Robots take to Warsaw streets to demand AI regulation
According to Vanguard, around 30 robots marched through Warsaw on Monday, campaigning for AI regulation outside Poland’s digital affairs ministry. Organized by Democratism, an initiative addressing AI’s impact on the labor market, the protest featured humanoid and quadruped robots chanting slogans like “Defend workplaces” and “Don’t wait, regulate.”
Organizer Grzegorz Kulis said the demonstration highlighted robots’ existing capabilities and the urgency of protecting workers from displacement in cognitive jobs. Poland’s Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski visited the protest, calling uncontrolled AI models in evolving humanoids “a major problem.” The event follows Poland’s July enactment of legislation implementing the EU’s AI Act, establishing a national enforcement authority.
