Super Falcons appoint Eguavoen interim coach for 2028 Olympic qualifiers
Former Super Eagles head coach Augustine Eguavoen has been appointed interim manager of Nigeria’s Super Falcons as the search for a permanent coach continues, according to Vanguard News. His first task is guiding the team through their 2028 Olympic Games second-round qualifying tie against Comoros, scheduled for October 9 and 13 at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo.
Eguavoen previously led the Super Eagles to bronze at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations. He is joined by Nasarawa Amazons coach Christopher Danjuma and former Super Falcons defender Ayisat Yusuf as assistants, alongside goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa. Comoros advanced to this round after a 30-0 aggregate win over Sudan. Nigeria need four knockout rounds to secure a spot at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
