Three killed in Lagos over N200 transport fare dispute
Three people were killed and others injured in a clash in the Ikola area of Ipaja, Lagos, according to a Vanguard report. Accounts of the incident’s origin differ: eyewitnesses said it began when an okada rider stabbed a passenger over a ₦200 fare balance, sparking reprisal attacks near Wazobia Market.
However, Lagos Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi said the violence started when suspected area boys demanded ₦200 from a tricycle rider, leading to a confrontation. Police confirmed three deaths and two injuries, with some buildings set ablaze. Security operatives have been deployed, and an investigation is underway.
