Three sisters drown in Kano boat accident

Three sisters have died after a boat carrying them capsized at Tiga Dam in Kano State, P.M. News reports. The victims, identified as Murjanatu, Atikatu and Bilkisu, were from Yalwan Rugu-Rugu village in Tudunwada Local Government Area.

The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tudunwada council chairman, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Soja Maijama’a, confirmed the tragedy and extended condolences to the family. Meanwhile, the Kano State Fire Service said it had not been formally notified, learning of the incident only through social media, and promised an official response once notified.
