Tinubu orders comprehensive reform of Nigerian football
President Bola Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive reform of Nigerian football, citing repeated failure to qualify for major regional, continental and global tournaments and structural weaknesses.
According to Sporting Tribune, the directive was disclosed on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Tinubu said the reform should address governance, administration, stakeholder representation, development pathways, domestic competitions and accountability.
He directed the National Sports Commission, NFF Secretariat and relevant stakeholders to work together, including engagement with FIFA and CAF.
The President urged football stakeholders to support the transition and build a stronger, accountable system.
