Tinubu seeks 10-day delay in release of drug trafficking records
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has joined the US Department of Justice in seeking a 10-day extension to respond to a motion for the release of records tied to drug trafficking allegations against him, according to Tribune Online.
His lawyers filed a notice of joinder at the US District Court for the District of Columbia, requesting the same schedule as defendants. Judge Beryl Howell denied the extension. Lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York alleged the delay could aid lobbying against the records’ release.
Tinubu has consistently denied wrongdoing, insisting he was never arrested or convicted of any drug offence.
