Trump claims Michael Cohen recanted testimony in hush-money trial
President Donald Trump has claimed that former attorney Michael Cohen recanted testimony that helped secure his conviction in the New York hush-money case.
According to The Hill, Trump renewed the claim after reconciling with Cohen, who testified against him during the 2024 trial. Trump said Cohen had acknowledged that prosecutors pressured him and that his testimony was inaccurate. Cohen, however, has not publicly provided a detailed statement formally withdrawing his trial testimony. The development comes as Trump continues efforts to challenge his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.
Trump has argued that a recantation could undermine the case, while legal experts have noted that such a move would not automatically erase the conviction.
