UEFA set to end FIFA boycott threat after Infantino assurances

UEFA is expected to cancel its planned boycott of FIFA competitions after receiving assurances that Gianni Infantino’s controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) investment proposal will not be revived. According to Euronews, the issue is expected to be discussed at a meeting of UEFA’s 55 member associations on Thursday.

UEFA had threatened to withdraw from FIFA tournaments after rejecting the proposed involvement of private investors in FIFA’s commercial operations. Ending the boycott would allow six European nations, including England, Spain, France and Italy, to participate in next month’s Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, easing tensions between the two governing bodies.
