Vincent Kompany’s determination to lead Bayern Munich to Champions League glory has reportedly impressed the club’s hierarchy ahead of the new season. The Belgian manager is targeting Europe’s biggest prize after Bayern narrowly missed out on last season’s final, losing 6-5 on aggregate to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

According to Bavarian Football Works, Kompany made his European ambitions clear to his squad during Bayern’s preseason tour of Asia. While retaining the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal remains important, winning the Champions League is now viewed as the manager’s major objective as he enters his third campaign in charge.
