What is stage four cancer? Understanding Ogogo’s diagnosis

Following confirmation that veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage-four cancer, health experts note that a stage-four diagnosis, while serious, is not necessarily terminal.

According to cancer news platform Binaytara, stage four describes cancer that has spread (metastasised) to distant parts of the body, most commonly the bones, liver and lungs.

Treatment typically focuses on controlling the disease rather than curing it, using chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies, often managed by a multidisciplinary medical team, with outcomes varying depending on how extensively the cancer has spread, according to Punch.
