What you should know about Eid-ul-Maulud

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud celebration, urging Muslims and other Nigerians to pray for peace, progress and unity.

According to a report by Channels Television, the celebration, observed on the 12th day of Rabiul Awwal, commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and is marked through prayers, reflection and educational programmes, though some Muslims consider it a religious innovation.
