Peter Obi: Why I won’t step down for Atiku in 2027
Presidential candidate Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has explained why he cannot step down for Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections, according to Daily Post Nigeria.
Speaking during an Arise Television interview aired Thursday, Obi said such a decision now rests with political parties, not individuals, since both men currently lead separate parties. He compared the situation to two corporations negotiating, rather than two CEOs deciding informally. Obi also denied claims he rejected an offer to run as Atiku’s vice president in 2023, insisting no such offer was ever presented to him within any party structure he belonged to.
