A Ghanaian court has sentenced Kingsley Ndifon, 29, and Emmanuel Akong, 25, to 20 years each for trafficking 11 Nigerians and forcing them into cybercrime, according to a report by The Gazette.
The convicts were arrested in August 2023 at Sebrepor, Tema, after police received an emergency call about victims held against their will.
Investigations revealed the Nigerians were lured with promises of better lives, then stripped of their phones and identification documents on arrival.
Victims were reportedly fed once daily and subjected to physical abuse involving laptop cables and machetes, leaving many malnourished.
Both men were convicted of conspiracy to commit human trafficking, trafficking, and causing harm, with an additional 10-year sentence for harm running concurrently.
