Spain’s Ceuta officials confirm 100 migrant deaths in border rush
At least 100 migrants died as thousands breached the Ceuta border last week to enter Spanish territory from Morocco, according to a report by The Peoples Gazette.
Juan Jesus Vivas, head of Ceuta’s local government, disclosed the toll before the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, describing the incident as an “invasion.” He said 3,000 to 5,000 migrants remain in Ceuta, overwhelming reception centres, and demanded their immediate expulsion.
More than 70,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta on July 30 and 31.
