FG calls on rich Nigerians, firms to build fire stations
The Federal Government has urged wealthy Nigerians, philanthropists and corporate organisations to invest in building fire stations across the country, according to a report by Vanguard.
Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Adeyemi Samuel Olumode, gave the charge at a National Stakeholders’ Summit on Fire Safety in Abuja, citing community-funded fire stations in Offa, Oyo Town and Bonny Island as models.
He listed achievements including the rehabilitation of 40 firefighting appliances and training of 700 cadet officers, while also inducting 37 Public Relations Officers into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations for professional certification.
