Nigeria to domestically build armored vehicles and counter-drone systems
Nigeria is set to manufacture armored vehicles, counter-drone systems and other military equipment locally through a new industrial partnership, according to a report by The Defense Post, which cited DICON-D7G CEO Osman Chennar.
The partnership between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria-D7G and Eagles International for Defence Systems will produce vehicles including the MRAP-Buffalo and BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle. Chennar said the initiative will create over 200 jobs, including for retired military personnel, and aims to eventually supply defense equipment to other African countries while reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imports.
