North Korea fires missiles, mocks US as Trump eyes fresh summit with Kim
North Korea fired about 10 short-range ballistic missiles on Thursday, hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said he would meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un again this year.
The launches followed Trump’s decision to scale back the South Korea-U.S. Ulchi Freedom Shield military exercises, which he described as sending a “totally inappropriate and hostile signal” to Pyongyang.
According to CBS News, Trump said North Korea now has 57 “very powerful” nuclear weapons, though Seoul officials estimated between 80 and 120 warheads and could not explain the discrepancy.
