Omar probe should ‘outrage all Americans’ – Obama
Former President Barack Obama has accused the Trump administration of targeting its political opponents over the federal criminal investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), The Hill reported. In a lengthy post on X, Obama said the probe, which centers on accusations of immigration fraud, was an attempt to strip Omar of her U.S. citizenship.
“But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota,” he wrote. Obama’s remarks come nearly a week after federal agents raided Omar’s Washington, D.C., home and seized her phone as part of a criminal investigation into her immigration paperwork. Obama also refuted the allegations against Omar, who was born in Somalia.
Obama said the investigation should “outrage all Americans.” Trump has previously denied any involvement in the federal probe, telling reporters the matter was up to the Justice Department. Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, has denied all allegations against her and says she has become the target of politically motivated persecution.
