Motorists and commuters were left stranded for over three hours following an early morning gridlock between the Ovia Bridge and Okada junction along the Benin–Lagos Expressway, according to a report by The Sun.

The severe traffic jam, heavily dominated by articulated vehicles, was compounded by a localized accident, broken-down vehicles, a notorious bad spot near the Tipper garage, and drivers parking along the roadside to sleep. According to motorists, widespread impatience and driving against traffic severely escalated the congestion.

A driver identified as Akanni criticized professional colleagues, stating, “Imagine drivers parking on the road side, sleeping and not waking up on time to continue their journey, thereby contributing to the gridlock.”

Another driver, Chukwu, urged the government and regulatory agencies like the Federal Road Safety Corps to enforce stricter road discipline and urgently repair deteriorating road infrastructure. “Everything boils down to the government. Their agencies must enforce the law while the repair of the bad portion of the road should also be done,” Chukwu said.
