Ronaldo leads Ballon d’Or All-Time fan poll, organisers confirm
Cristiano Ronaldo has taken the early lead in an official fan poll organised by France Football to determine the greatest Ballon d’Or winner of all time. According to P.M. News, the organisers confirmed the Portugal captain’s position on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, through a post on the Ballon d’Or’s official social media platform.
The ongoing poll, which began in early October, features 10 football legends who have won the prestigious award at least twice. Among the nominees are Ronaldo’s longtime rival Lionel Messi, French legend Michel Platini, Brazilian great Ronaldo Nazario, Dutch icon Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten and former England international Kevin Keegan.
Announcing the current standings, the organisers wrote: “Cristiano Ronaldo is leading.” They also encouraged supporters to vote for their preferred candidate in the contest, popularly called the Ballon d’Or of All Time, or B.O.A.T.
Fans who participate in the poll also stand a chance to win two tickets to the 2027 Ballon d’Or ceremony. Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or five times, but voting remains open, meaning the current standings do not represent a final verdict.
