‘Give me my son’s body’ — Pelumi Onifade’s mother cries out six years after #EndSARS
Six years after the #EndSARS protests, Bosede Onifade, mother of slain journalist Pelumi Onifade, is demanding the release of her son’s remains and justice over his death.
According to Daily Trust, the 20-year-old Gboah TV journalist disappeared while covering protests against police brutality in Lagos in October 2020.
He was allegedly shot and taken away by Lagos State Police Task Force operatives.
“Don’t I have a right to demand my son’s remains, even if they say he is dead? What do I tell my God? Do I tell Him that I cannot account for the son He gave me?” she asked.
Bosede said her family remained devastated because Pelumi had not been buried.
An unidentified body found at a government mortuary in Ikorodu later became central to investigations.
Reports indicated that DNA testing confirmed the remains belonged to him.
A Federal High Court ordered an investigation in 2024, while legal proceedings continued.
