Carabao Cup quarter-final draw: Liverpool face Bournemouth, Man City host Bradford
Liverpool will face Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, while Fleetwood Town await the outcome of Everton’s meeting with Newcastle United to discover their next opponents.
According to TEAMtalk, Fleetwood, who sit 18th in League Two, secured a remarkable place in the last eight after defeating Premier League champions Arsenal 5-3 on penalties on Tuesday. The victory earned them another home tie in the competition.
Liverpool also progressed following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea at Anfield on Wednesday. Valentin Barco, Kostas Tsimikas, Ryan Gravenberch and Emmanuel Emegha all missed their penalties before Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana sent his decisive effort over the bar.
The Reds will now meet Bournemouth, managed by Andoni Iraola’s former side. Elsewhere, Bradford City face a challenging trip to Manchester City, while Crystal Palace will host Sunderland at Selhurst Park. Fleetwood must wait until Thursday’s Everton-Newcastle encounter to learn their quarter-final opponents.
