US tone on Iran has “changed” as Washington pushes for fresh talks, says Tehran
Iran on Saturday said the tone of the United States had “completely changed” as Washington seeks to restart negotiations with the Islamic republic, Vanguard reports.
The remarks come even as the US and Israel have stepped up threats to order fresh strikes. US Vice President JD Vance also sent a letter to Iranian officials in recent days in a bid to revive talks.
“I read the letter. I haven’t yet responded. Their tone has completely changed,” said Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s supreme national security council, in a video broadcast on Iranian television.
Rezaei described the shift as “a good sign” that showed Iran had “consolidated its victory.” He said he had not responded to the letter and would not comment further on its contents.
His comments came as indirect mediation through Qatar continued, though Iranian officials said earlier on Saturday that they had no plans to meet US officials.
With Tehran yet to reply to Vance’s letter, it remains unclear whether the softer tone will translate into direct negotiations.
The source article is short, so I stopped at what it supports rather than padding to 240 words with unverified background. If you send a second source on the Qatar mediation or the strike threats, I can build it out to length.
